Until this year I'd never had a favourite animal. Then all of a sudden I decided that llamas were the best. Little did I know that snow leopards are probably better.

My favourite was always ducks til I found out they're all gang rapists and now I just don't know what to think.
Maybe a slow loris, I saw one of those being tickled and it looked pretty cute but will it taste as good with plum or orange sauce?

Let's be honest, after all this wacky stuff is said and done, a dog is the best. Especially a dog being ridden by a slow loris.

The slow loris is too venomous for my tastes, but I'd probably eat one just because they're endangered.

Slow lorises (lorii?) are scary! They look like little gremlins. My favourite animal is the noble ostrich.

I like the coyote because of it's understanding of commerce and applicable knowledge of complex booby traps. A little bit of mentoring form a professional and it would make a valuable addition to our armed forces.

Anything with tiny hands, because when they do thing it looks like they think they're people
!
Like beavers rubbing oil into their fur to make it waterproof, or monkeys doing stuff. Can't beat small hands, you can't.

I like bears. Big grizzly bears. I want to cuddle them and make them loveable.

Have you heard of the new grolar bears? It's a polar and a grizzly mixed and they get angry if you call them pizzly bears (I would imagine).

Do they have to be currently alive? If not, a dinosaur of some description. Maybe Deinychus. If so, probably a Great White Shark. They're so awesome.

I like the idea that nobody really knows what dinosaurs looked like and they could all have had polka dots or feathers?! Maybe not feathers. Sharks have stupid faces.

Would you say that to their face?

I'll say it to their stupid faces right now if they'd come over here and take it! But they don't have the guts.

Whales are pretty cool. And enormous. I think whales are definitely up there as brilliant animals. Along with lions. Good old lions. Male lions sleep for 20 hours a day, 20. They're perfect.

I forget if I have a favourite animal. Probably - it's like one of those choices you're made to have at school. There a list of things you have to take a stance on so that everytime you meet someone new - and it happens a lot when you're a child - you can reel it all off: Favourite colour, meal, number, cartoon, parent etc.
Cat.

Hold on though, this is the best animal thread, not the favourite animal thread. I've made a fool of myself.
The best animal is the mighty tiger.

The best animal is the kangaroo, for its jumps, kicks, punches and pouch.

The best animal is a piranha, armed with a cocktail sword, riding a coked meerkat.

I hear talk of both Lions and Tigers. What would happen if someone were to cross-breed them? Surely that would be super awesome. I present to you, the Liger: www.fahad.com/pics/liger.jpg and also: bit.ly/OiMHZHuzzah!

I don't know why anyone would think that monkeys are not the best animal. Insanity.

I saw a thing on monkeys yesterday. They are just tiny people, aren't they? Tiny people with funny bums and what looks like a terrible case of scoriasis on their tiny pinched faces. And fur and tails. But otherwise pretty much exactly the same as tiny people.

They're tiny, stupid people. They can't read, write or speak properly, have an appalling sense of direction, and defecate where and when they please.
I, on the other hand, can prove by being on this board that I can at least write. Well, type anyway.

They're probably not.
In Edinburgh zoo they have an amazing bit where there are cages and cages of tiny monkeys like marmosets and so on. We went in the springtime and the tiny monkies had tinier baby monkeys on their backs. A variety of these tiny monkies had black fur so all you could see of the babies were two shiny eyes, so it looked like there was a cageful of tiny monkies with an largely undeveloped conjoined-twin. It was precious.
